Sandhya and Nikhil are a happily married, urban,
professional couple. Coming from middle class families, both of
them have risen in their professional life by virtue of merit and
hard work. On their eighth wedding anniversary celebrations, one
of their friends brings along his nephew, Rahul, who is a classical
singer. Sandhya develops a sudden attraction to him, and has an
affair with him. She confides about this to her friend, Prabha,
but does not tell Nikhil about it. The affair ends in a couple of
months. After about a year, Nikhil falls in love with his assistant
in the lab, Vrinda. He tells Sandhya about it and leaves her for
Vrinda. Sandhya is shattered as they part ways.

Four
years after the divorce, they meet again, albeit this time as friends.
Sandhya mentions to Nikhil about her affair with Rahul. This leaves
Nikhil shattered. "At least, I was honest to you", he says. Sandhya
argues with him that since she loved him and wanted to keep the marriage
going, she did not tell him at that point of time. She too was, in
her own way, honest about her feelings about him. Who is right? Who
is honest? Maybe both of them, in their own individual perception
of honesty and morality . |
